Sonic drive-in makes plans to open in York (The York Dispatch)
A national chain of drive-in restaurants is skating its way through south-central Pennsylvania, with a few stores planned for York County. Sonic, based in Oklahoma, is “actively” developing plans for York and the surrounding region, with drive-in chains possible within the next couple years.

One thing that happens when you are on a long-term assignment like this Barry Bonds home-run chase (and it grows longer by the minute — Bonds went homerless again Thursday afternoon) is you become consumed by it. You lose perspective. You shut out the outside world. The Olympics are like this. When you are covering the Olympics you start to believe that everyone in America is (like you) thinking pretty much nonstop about Michael Phelps or Sasha Cohen or the United States soccer team or whatever. The Chillicothe skate park has moved one step closer to reality with an additional donation of $65,000, it was announced Monday. The donation, made by local resident Henry Good, puts the total skate park account at more than $100,000.

Ice dancers Lefebvre and Markov announce retirement from eligible skating

“It’s been really great so far.”

(CP) - Chantal Lefebvre and Arseny Markov are retiring from competitive figure skating, but they intend to remain partners.

Lefebvre, 30, and Markov, 25, teamed up in 2003 and won ice dancing bronze at the 2004 and 2005 Canadian championships. They were fourth in 2006 fifth in 2007.

“We’ve had great success in our skating careers and we have no regrets,” said Lefebvre, who is from LaSalle, Que. “We learned a lot both on and off the ice, and we’re really happy to have met each other.”

They are engaged and plan to be married in two years. Read more
